XII-XIII centuries

The time of Chivalry - The time of the Crusades - The time of the Cathedrals

"God willing!"

t is the cry that the Knights answered the call of Pope Urban II on 27 November 1095. This appeal from the pope urged the Knights to become "soldiers of Christ", pilgrims with arms and promised leniency for their sins to all those who went on crusade.

Throughout the XII-XIIIth centurys eight crusades against infidels will succeed and be completed in 1270 (death of St. Louis to Tunis) and the taking of St. Jean d'Acre in 1291.The XIII s is also the reign of Philip II Augustus, the victory of Bouvines (1214), the crusade against the Albigenses and the reign of Louis IX "St. Louis" and that of Philippe the Fair.

At Marle, the best French troops will make you relive that period!
