Merovingians Days, the group of the Franks
of Marla Curtis attempts to replicate what had to be the everyday lives of
Merovingian Franks peasants on sites reconstitutes at Marle: Merovingian
Farm and Frank Village
in the Archaeological Park . The photos
will give you a taste of these days, which are held for 14
years.
The pace is much calmer than the festival, the crowd is smaller,
you'll have time to discuss and question each on its activity on the daily lives
of our ancestors the Franks. In an effort to make the History
"Alive", archaeologists, excavators, enthusiasts of all persuasions
have decided to revive the past largely ignored through animations in period costumes.
The "Merovingians Days" allow through various
activities and demonstrations in period costume to give an idea of the daily
life of the countryside to the High Middle Ages: dye
plant, basket weaving, iron
working, spinning,
weaving, pottery,
stone carving,
etc ..., associated with animals in the yard, recreating the atmosphere of a farm
of VI-VII century. Demonstrations launch
ax and archery are also available to the public.
Similarly,
it is possible to eat on the spot not only bread
and cakes, and also a real Merovingian
soup based ingredients certified at the time.
It
is a veritable outdoor museum of living history, which paraded in front of the
public.
Reconstructions
combined with a highly scientific approach t
Marle, it is not in the "about" or in disguise ...
The
originality, and certainly the uniqueness of this set, reside in the fact that
archaeologists have liked to go after their archaeological and pedagogical approach,
starting with a single site. Accessories clothing (buckles,
plate belt loops), the objects of adornment (necklaces, buckles, bracelets), weapons,
etc.. replicas are identical to the objects discovered in
the tombs of Goudelancourt. This
is an example probably unique in France in situ recovery of both the archaeological
structures, objects and the appearance of people, all without exception are faithful
to the site and one site. After some trial and error and mistakes
of youth, perfectionism archaeologists will now propose to "replicas
live" as the subject buried in tomb 190 or the woman of the 232 falls,
or the young warrior the tomb 322.
